Clearly an opportunist, Napoleon’s quick rise to domination makes Chesty Puller seem like a slouch. (My father and half the Marine Corps may resent that.) His leadership skills are legendary and I read this with as much interest in how he treated his soldiers as with how much ground he covered. I cannot get over the whole married the beautiful woman with black teeth thing.
