Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily Nagoski, Amelia Nagoski
Read this book! Itβs like books about sleep: they kick you into gear for a few months, and then you need to read another one.
Two of my closest friends, both avid podcast people (I am not), shared a Brene Brown podcast interviewing the Nagoski sisters (here) which is what turned me onto the existence of this book. I was treated (kind of) for burnout in Germany, and I love learning more about the subject. In Germany, burnout is treated (both medically and culturally) as a real malady. In the US it seems like more of a millennial laziness disease, a chronic issue plaguing only people under 35, that has somehow evaded the older generations.
Human Giver Syndrome and the lady in the attic are two ideas that will stick with me here.
