The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris
Almost 2,000 pages of TR and I still, somehow, want more. This one isn’t nearly as captivating as the first book (and I’m already liking the third quite a bit) as the presidency sounds like a hell of a slog. Theodore’s ever-present modern reputation as a racist is hard to rectify when actually reading his words and speeches. My admiration is growing.
Also, this man is a reading inspiration. Said to read a book before breakfast everyday, by the time he was elected president he had read 20,000 books. Almost 3 books a day ! Apparently it was almost impossible to attract his attention while reading and he had a near-photographic memory. Dreamboat?
